With Valentine’s Day upcoming, it’s likely that restaurants are going to be overflowing with couples, love songs playing too loudly and food taking ages to come. Why not have a cosy night in, instead? Skip the hassle of queues, sitting obnoxiously close to other people and having to shout over all the noise. Just because you’re staying in, doesn’t mean it can’t be romantic, though. You can even go as far as dressing up to sit across from the person you love and enjoy their company, all in the comfort of your home. No traffic, no noise and no one else but the person who matters most to you.
If that sounds ideal, but you’re rubbish at making those kind of “romantic night in” plans, here’s a step-by-step guide on setting up the perfect Valentine’s table:
STEP 1: Having the perfect table
Can’t set the perfect Valentine’s table without the table itself. Make sure your table is big enough to fit all those delicious foods you’ll be having, the flower centrepiece and the drinks you’ll be toasting with, but intimate enough to be close to each other. You’ll want to be near one another to talk, laugh and fondly reminisce on your time already spent together.
STEP 2: Set the mood (and the table)
Put away the everyday crockery and serveware and break out the special kind – the one saved for special occasions, because what’s more special than celebrating the love you have for each other? Why not set the mood further with some gorgeous salad bowls and a cutlery set to match the Valentine’s aesthetic? And, don’t forget those fancy glasses as well, since you’ll be cracking open a top-shelf drink to pair nicely with the food and the company.
STEP 3: Finishing touches
When you’re having a Valentine’s meal with your loved one, try and make it as romantic as possible. You could go the classic route of buying flowers, but why not try and arrange them in a beautiful vase, going the extra mile so your significant other doesn’t have to. In addition to the flowers, add some scented candles or diffusers to the table, softening the lighting and the mood – nothing is more romantic than a candle-lit dinner with flowers as a centrepiece.
STEP 4: Dinner is served
Once the three steps have been completed, unwind, relax and have a phenomenal meal with the person you love on this joyous day. Whether it’s just takeout or you’re the kind of culinary-skilled couple that will be cooking up a storm, don’t forget the most important things to bring to the table: laughter, good conversation and love.
We at TACC hope this easy four-step guide to setting the perfect Valentine’s table will go a long way in showing your loved one that they are always worth that extra effort. We wish you all a wonderful and happy Valentine’s Day.
